KATE DOT. YOUMANS

EDUCATION

BFA - TEXTILES, 2026

SAVANNAH COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN

Growing up in Tennessee, recently graduated textile artist, Kate DOT. Youmans has developed a deep appreciation for movement, texture, and the natural forms surrounding her, drawing particular inspiration from birds. Her work explores woven structures across interiors, fashion, and fine art, often referencing exaggerated shoulder pad silhouettes and sculptural forms. Through experimentation with machine-knit structures and upcycled materials, she creates accessories and textiles that balance innovation with sustainability. As a recent graduate, she is especially interested in collaborative design processes and the possibilities of digital woven design as a tool for material exploration and storytelling. Moving forward, she hopes to continue weaving and discovering new ways to manipulate materials, innovate within textile practices, and collaborate across creative disciplines.
